Flaw Information
Flaw is an American nu metal band that is based in Louisville, Kentucky. The current lineup of the group includes Chris Volz (lead vocals), Rob Buttorff (guitar), Joshua Skellett (bass), and Ethan York (drums). Guitarist Jason Daunt formed the band in 1996. Initially, they made a string of rough independent recordings before signing a record deal with Universal Music Group and Republic Records. The band released two major-label albums entitled “Endangered Species” and “Through the Eyes.”
Jason Daunt posted in a local paper classification ad that he was looking for a lead vocalist for a band. Chris Volz responded to that ad and soon met Daunt. The meeting went well, and they began the writing process for the Flaw material shortly after that. The duo completed its first song the next day entitled “Inner Strength.” The band recorded its first album independently, which was entitled “American Arrogance.” The album brought an opportunity to be the opening act for Econoline Crush and Fear Factory.
Flaw performed at CBGB, where they caught the attention of Universal Music Group and Republic Records. The band signed to the label in 2000 and began recording their first-ever studio album entitled “Through the Eyes,” released in October 2001. The notable independent albums by Flaw include American Arrogance (1997), Flaw (1998), and Home Grown Studio Sessions (2009). The studio albums that followed are Divided We Fall (August 19, 2016), and Vol IV: Because of the Brave (July 19, 2019).
