Evan Marien is an American multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer. While he was born in Decatur, Illinois, Evan is currently living in Brooklyn, New York. Marien grew up playing drums, guitar, piano, and trombone. He is known for his recordings and performances on electric bass. He has also been the bassist for electronic songwriter Elliot Moss, the last bassist to play in the band of guitar legend Allan Holdsworth and Thundercat drummer Justin Brown’s NYEUSI.
Marien is currently leading a project called “Evan Marien x Dana Hawkins.” This project has been described as a progressive collaboration of bold bass artistry, prodigious drumming, and dynamic electronic production. The new EvanxDana was released in 2018.
Throughout his musical career, Marien has performed and recorded with numerous artists such as Louis Cato, Mike Slott, Ari Hoenig, Tim Miller, David Fiuczynski, Jack DeJohnette, Louis Cole (Knower), Zach Danziger, Steve Hunt, and Virgil Donati.
Marien is also known for composing commercial music for big brands such as Entertainment Tonight, HBO, IMAX, The Dallas Cowboys, AT&T, and others. The bass playing talent of Marien can be heard on many big brand ads such as OnMo Global, Spectrum, AT&T, Ulta Beauty, and FX.
