Eric Lee Martin (October 10, 1960) is an American singer/musician from Long Island, New York who plays pop-rock, hard rock, heavy metal. Martin's father was his first musical influence. At the start of Martin's career, he worked as a drummer but soon realized that the frontman/lead vocalist's position fit his personality better. Martin then played in a handful of teen rock groups such as "S.F. Bloodshy" while attending Foothill High School in Sacramento, California. He has been active since the 1980s as a member of various bands and as a solo artist.
Martin founded a band named 415 in 1979 that marked the beginning of his career. The group prospered well, and without being signed to a recording contract, the group played in front of 60,000 fans at Bill Graham's Days on the Green Concert, which took place at Oakland Stadium. Martin earned notable success when playing as the frontman for the hard rock band Mr. Big. He has always performed either soul, rock, or even country music. Some of his influences are The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Otis Redding, Paul Rodgers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Edgar Winter.
As a solo artist, he has released many notable albums such as I'm Only Fooling Myself (1987), I'm Goin' Sane (2002), Destroy All Monsters (2004), Mr. Vocalist (2008), Mr. Vocalist X-Mas (2009), and Mr. Rock Vocalist (2012).
