Eric Patrick Clapton (March 30, 1945) is an English blues and rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was born in Ripley, Surrey. With 18 Grammys and the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, Clapton is one of the most decorated musicians ever. He received a CBE for his contributions to the music industry in 2004. As a member of the Yardbirds and Cream, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times, which was a first. In the 1970s, Clapton started a solo career with such classic hit songs as “Layla” and Wonderful “Tonight”.
Clapton has collaborated with numerous renowned artists throughout his career, such as John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, George Harrison, and B.B. King. His music is a fusion of blues, rock, and soul ballads. Clapton has received numerous Grammy Awards and has been able to relate to audiences using his guitar and voice. His track Tears in Heaven, which was inspired by the unfortunate death of his son, turned out to be one of his strongest and poignant hits.
In 2025, Clapton is still causing a stir with new music and performances. On January 24, 2025, he published his new studio album, Meanwhile. The album has six new songs and includes collaborations with Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, and others. Clapton is also on his 2025 tour, where he is performing in different cities across the globe.
