Elder Information
Elder is an American rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Georg Edert, Mike Risberg, Jack Donovan, and Nick DiSalvo. In the middle of the 2000s, Nick DiSalvo, Chas Mitchell, and Matt Couto formed Elder in Massachusetts. MeteorCity Records published Elder's debut album in 2009 and Dead Roots Stirring in 2011. The band had previously issued a split album with the psychedelic rock band Queen Elephantine in 2006.
2015 saw the release of the band's third studio album, Lore, via Stickman Records. In 2017, guitarist and keyboardist Mike Risberg joined the group. In 2019, longtime member and drummer Matt Couto left the band to be replaced by Georg Edert. This is Elder's debut LP, and it bears his name. This album is a cross between doom metal and stoner rock, with the former dominating the sound overall and the latter appearing on songs like "Riddle of Steel Pt. 1" through strained, low-pitched vocals reminiscent of Sleep's Dopesmoker.
The second album by Elder came out on October 25, 2011. In contrast to their last release, this one heavily features stoner rock and even some psychedelic rock elements. The album was engineered by Clay Neely, mixed by Justin Pizzoferrato, and designed by Adrian Dexter.
