DURRY Information
Durry is an American indie rock band. During a pandemic in 2020, Austin and his wife Ashley relocated into their parents' basement apartment in the Minneapolis suburbs. Their brother Taryn and sister Austin Durry then started the band. For twelve years, Austin was a member of the band Coyote Kid. The group's modest success made Austin question whether he had squandered his youth pursuing music.
Despite not having a particularly strong relationship as children due to their seven-year age difference, Austin and Taryn eventually formed a band after she served as a sounding board for his musical ideas while he was at home. In May of 2021, a planned EP was partially funded through a Kickstarter effort. However, they hastily completed the song "Who's Laughing Now" after its demo unexpectedly became popular on TikTok in September 2021 to gain more online attention.
Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit was likewise effusive in his praise. The group had over a million Spotify streams by the beginning of 2022. In 2021, the band began performing live and releasing their first tracks online. When they perform live, the band consists of four members: bassist Ashley, Austin's wife, and drummer Dane Hoppe. Surburban Legend, the debut studio album of the band, came out on September 8, 2023.
