Drowning Pool is an American rock band founded in 1996 in Dallas, Texas, named after the 1975 film The Drowning Pool. The band's music can be e defined as hard rock, post-grunge, heavy metal, nu-metal, and alternative metal. The current lineup of Drowning pool consists of C.J. Pierce – guitars, Stevie Benton – bass guitar, backing vocals, Mike Luce – drums, backing vocals, and Jasen Moreno – lead vocals. Three of the former members are Dave Williams – lead vocals, Jason Jones – lead vocals, and Ryan McCombs – lead vocals. Sinner was the debut album by Drowning Pool released in 2001, followed by the second album in 2004, entitled Desensitized. Two of the latest albums by Drowning Pool are Resilience (2013) and Hellelujah (2016).
Drowning Pool's style has been considered as a part of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal. The group has been influenced by black metal and death metal with some other notable influences cited by the band members are Nirvana, Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Anthrax, Slayer, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Testament, Slipknot, Alice in Chains, SOiL, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Sepultura, Mötley Crüe, the Beatles, and Suicidal Tendencies.
