Delta Rae Information
Delta Rae is an American band that deals in the folk-rock genres. The group was formed in Durham, North Carolina. It is an ensemble of three siblings Eric Hölljes (vocals, guitar, piano, and keys), Ian Hölljes (vocals and guitar), and Brittany Hölljes (vocals). The other band members are Mike McKee (percussion), Elizabeth Hopkins (vocals), and Grant Emerson (bass guitar). Ian and Eric Hölljes started songwriting when they were only 12 and 10, respectively. The major part of their songwriting was dedicated to Delta Rae's current music.
During their time in middle school in San Rafael, California, the three Hölljes siblings joined a teen acapella group. In this group, they met their future bandmate, Elizabeth Hopkins. In October 2009, the youngsters debuted at Duke University and graduated in different years. At the same time, Liz graduated from Fordham University. Their next goal was to move into one of the big houses in the woods in Durham, North Carolina. In September of 2009, their official band came into being after achieving their goal.
In 2010, Delta Rae released its self-titled debut EP. In 2012, the group signed a record deal with Sire Records, and on June 19, their debut album named Carry the Fire was released. Three hit singles included in this album are "Dance in the Graveyards," "Morning Comes," and "Bottom of the River." The songs were also able to receive airplay on VH1. According to the group members, they do not follow a single music genre. Their sound is defined as country-rock, sensual blue-eyed soul, gospel-tinged, and harmony-laden Americana.
