Heavy metal pioneers, OVERKILL count D.D. Verni was among their ranks, as he was the band's founding member, composer, producer, and bassist. A famous group that, for over three decades, has been the main attraction at festivals and concert halls around the globe. They, along with bands like Metallica, Motorhead, Megadeth, etc., are recognized for pioneering a new style of music called "Thrash Metal," which combines elements of Heavy Metal and punk rock. Since their first album in 1985, they have issued 19 studio albums.
DD Verni & the Cadillac Band is the realization of Verni's lifelong ambition to form a Swing/Big Band. He began by composing an album of tracks in the styles he most enjoyed, which included rockin' big band and swing with a fresh, modern twist.
Verni then enlisted John "Spazz" Hatton, the upright bassist for the Brian Setzer Orchestra, to arrange the horns and perform slap bass on the album. The horns came from LA's Phat Cat Swinger, and Tony Pia, formerly of the Brian Setzer Orchestra and now a part of the Doobie Brothers, played drums.
The publication of their first album, titled "Let's Rattle," in September was met with critical acclaim. The first film, "Cadillac Man," was a live performance clip of the band that rocked and roared. As seen in their second music video, "Olivia...that's Who," the band experimented with using still images to construct a storyboard.
