Dawes Information
Dawes is an American rock-folk band based in Los Angeles. The current lineup of the group consists of brothers Griffin Goldsmith (drums) and Taylor (guitars and vocals), along with other members Lee Pardini (keyboards) and Wylie Gelber (bass). The band has been actively playing music since 2009, after first coming into existence after the departure of Simon Dawes’ co-songwriter, Blake Mills. Since then, Dawes has been described as having a Laurel Canyon sound derived from artists such as Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Nash, Stills, and Crosby.
Dawes recorded its debut album in Laurel Canyon to analog tape, in a live setting. The debut album entitled “North Hills” was released on August 18, 2009. Dawes made its debut television appearance on April 14, 2010, on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” On June 7, 2011, the band released its second album entitled “Nothing Is Wrong.” The group also embarked on a United States tour, co-headlining with Blitzen Trapper. On December 1, 2011, Dawes played alongside Jackson Browne at the Occupy Wall Street event in Zuccotti Park.
Dawes has been featured on an episode of the NBC television series named “Parenthood” in 2012. The band has also worked with many record labels throughout its career, such as ATO Records, MapleMusic Recordings, Hub, Loose Music, Mercury Records, and Rounder Records. Their other notable albums include Stories Don’t End (April 9, 2013), All Your Favorite Bands (June 2, 2015), and We’re All Gonna Die (September 16, 2016).
