Darius Carlos Rucker (born May 13, 1996) is a songwriter-singer born in Charleston, South Carolina. Rucker first gained recognition as Hootie & the Blowfish's main singer and rhythm guitarist. The club's roots may be traced back to 1986 when they were formed at USC. With Rucker, the band released five albums with six singles in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2008, his debut album, Learn to Live, was released and became a huge success. It included such tracks as “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It” and “Alright,” making him one of the prominent singers in country music.
Before his solo work, Rucker made hits with Hootie & the Blowfish, such as the songs “Only Wanna Be with You” and “Hold My Hand.” His transition into country music paid off, as songs such as “Wagon Wheel” won him Grammy awards and a large following. Rucker has been popular over the years because of his country, rock, and soul combination.
Rucker is still rocking the music world in 2025. He is now on his Starting Fires tour, where he takes his music to fans all over the country. His latest album, Carolyn's Boy, which was put out earlier this year, was hailed as a fusion of country with R&B and soul. His concerts still excite the audience due to a combination of old hits and new ones. Rucker continues to dominate country music and rock music.
