Dale Watson Information
Dale Watson (October 7, 1962) is an American country/Texas country singer, songwriter, guitarist, and self-published author. He is from Birmingham, Alabama, and was born Kenneth Dale Watson. He grew up outside of Wilmington, NC, and in Pasadena, Texas, when his family moved in 1977. Watson began writing songs when he was 12. He made his first record at 14 and soon became an emancipated minor. He attended school during the daytime and played local Houston clubs and honky-tonks at night.
In 1988, Watson moved to LA and joined the band at "The Palomino Club," a North Hollywood's now-legendary alt-country venue. Two of his first singles recorded were for Curb Records (1990 and 1991) are "One Tear at a Time" and "You Pour It On, and I Pour It Down." Watson later moved to Nashville and began writing songs for the Gary Morris publishing company. The Lone Stars was a band founded by Watson in Austin. In 1995, he released his debut album entitled Cheatin' Heart Attack. It was followed by another album named Blessed Or Damned in 1996.
Some of the other notable albums by Watson are People I've Known, Places I've Been, Christmas In Texas, Preachin' To The Choir, Every Song I Write Is For You, Live At Newland, NL [2CD], From The Cradle To The Grave, The Little Darlin' Sessions, and Dalevis: Sun Sessions 2. His hit singles are "You Pour It On and I Pour It Down," "The Bottle Never Let Me Down," and "I Lie When I Drink."
