Current Swell Information
Current Swell is a Canadian indie rock band consisting of Dave St. Jean (trombone), Phil Hamelin (keys and trumpet), Marcus Manhas (drums), Louis Sadava (bass and vocals), Dave Lang (harmonica, guitar, and vocals), and Scott Stanton (slide guitar, lead guitar, and vocals). Current Swell was born on Vancouver Island, off the coast of British Columbia, Canada.
When Current Swell first performed together, they completely sold out of tickets. Northern Vancouver Island high school students stumbled into their five-song EP that they had uploaded on the web. The group expected a small crowd for their coffee shop performance, but they were surprised to find the place filled. A large part of the band's success can be attributed to its devoted fan base. Their 2009 single "Young and Able" went viral on the video-sharing website YouTube.
Ulysses, the band's fourth studio album, was scheduled for release on May 6, 2014. This album was recorded at Vancouver's Greenhouse Studios and produced by Nathan Sabatino (Dr. Dog, White Rabbits). Rollin', the album's third tune, was the first single. The 2015 film unReal, created by Teton Gravity Research and Anthill Films, also includes a scene set to Rollin'.
