Crowded House Information
Crowded House was established in 1985 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Neil Finn (singer, guitarist, principal songwriter) from New Zealand, Paul Hester (drums), and Nick Seymour (bass) from Australia were the original members. The only constants in the band were Neil Finn and Seymour; later additions included Tim Finn, Elroy's and Liam's brothers, and American musicians Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod.
Crowded House broke up that year after several farewell shows in 1996, including Melbourne and Sydney's "Farewell to the World" concerts. Hester took her own life in 2005. The band had a second break before reforming in 2020 with Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom, and Elroy and Liam Finn, who are sons of Finn, replacing the previous lineup. In 2021, they dropped their latest album, Dreamers Are Waiting.
Worldwide album sales for Crowded House have surpassed 15 million units as of 2021. The ARIA Hall of Fame inducted the band in November 2016. The band's Glastonbury performance was on June 24, 2022. Crowded House will be touring in the U.S. and Canada in May 2023 to support their album Dreamers Are Waiting. Crowded House's "Oh Hi" was published in February 2024 and is the lead single of their upcoming eighth studio album, Gravity Stairs, which is scheduled for release on May 31, 2024.
