Cartel hit the music scene in a big way in 2005. Their debut album, Chroma, came out that year, and the song “Honestly” climbed the charts. That was their big moment. Chroma had catchy guitar riffs and heartfelt vocals. It showed their pop-punk sound. People remember that album because it felt fresh and full of energy.
Before their success, the band members met in high school in Conyers, Georgia. They started in 2003 and played shows around Atlanta. Their self-titled debut EP in 2004 helped them gain notice from fans and record labels. After touring with larger bands, they released Chroma and heavily toured it. Their early tours helped them grow a loyal fan base. They continued to record and play festivals, building on that high school connection and early drive.
In 2025, the Cartel will be back in action. They released a new single this year called “Echoes of Summer” in April. They also kicked off their “Bright Lights Tour” starting in May, with stops in cities like Nashville, Columbus, and Atlanta. They’re playing "Honestly" along with several new songs live. Their current lineup includes vocalist Will Pugh, guitarist Joseph Pepper, bassist Kevin Sanders, guitarist Nic Hudson, and drummer Dylan Lux. This year, they’re focused on performing both new music and fan favorites and getting back on the road after a quiet few years.
