Bobby Rydell Information
Bobby Rydell (April 26, 1942) is an American singer who plays rock and roll music and was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rydell was the winner of a talent show on the series “Paul Whiteman’s TV Teen Club” in 1950. Later, Rydell gained a spot in the cast and remained there for several years. He is originally known as Robert Louis Ridarelli but changed his name to Bobby Rydell and soon played for several bands in the Philadelphia area.
Rydell signed his first record contract with Cameo Records. In 1959, he released his first charting single named “Kissin’ Time.” He went on tour in Australia in 1960 along with The Crickerts, The Champs, Marv Johnson, Billy “Crash” Craddock, and The Everly Brothers.
“We Got Love” was the second successful hit for Rydell and his first million-album seller, which gained gold disc status. In 1961, Rydell performed at the Copacabana in New York City. At the time, he was the youngest performer to headline at the nightclub. He also performed at the Festival du Rock in February 1961 at the Palais des Sports de Paris in Paris.
Rydell has released a long list of notable albums since he has started his career. Some of the hit studio albums include Seven Classics Albums Plus (2017), All the Hits (2017), Return of the Original American Idol (2014), Very Best of Bobby Rydell (2012), Chubby Checker and Bobby Rydell (2012), and Bobby Rydell Salutes the Great Ones/ Rydel at the Copa (2006).
