Black Tusk Information
Black Tusk is a sludge metal band that was formed in 2005 based in Savannah, Georgia. The current lineup of the group includes Chris “Scary” Adams (guitars), Corey Barhorst (bass and vocals), James May (drums and vocals), and Andrew Fidler (guitars and vocals). The band was formed when all of its members shared a street. They recorded the EP, When Kingdoms Fall, released via Wrecked Signal in just a few months.
Black Tusk self-published their debut full-length studio album, The Fallen Kingdom, two years later, followed by Passage Through Purgatory, which was released through the local label Hyperrealist Records a year later. Before signing to Relapse Records in November 2009, Black Tusk issued a series of split albums with bands such as ASG, The Holy Mountain, and Fight Amp. Taste the Sin, the band’s debut for Relapse, was released in May 2010.
On December 10, 2014, Black Tusk announced a tour with Black Label Society in early 2015, with Corey Barhorst filling in on bass. Members of Black Tusk define their sound as “swamp metal.”
Other studio albums released by Black Tusk include Taste the Sun (2010), Set the Dial (2011), Pillars of Ash (2016), and T.C.B.T (2018). John Dyer Baizley, the guitarist and vocalist for Baroness, also designs Black Tusk’s artwork.
