Black Girl Magic Information
Bond filed Black Girl Magic in 2014 as a spinoff of the BLACK GIRLS ROCK! brand, which includes the BLACK GIRLS ROCK! shop and TV Show that Bond created through her company, BondVision Media. Bond had Black Girl Magic® accounts on Facebook and Twitter by August 2014.
The pilot episode of the TV show Black Girl Magic, hosted by Tatyana Ali and Janell Snowden and featuring Jay Ellis, Nzingha Stewart, Lalah Hathaway, and MC Lyte, was created by Bond as an executive producer in 2016. Bond launched the Black Girl Magic Hour Podcast in 2018 to continue to promote discussions among and about Black women.
Each week on Black Girl Magic Hour, guests, including Michaela Angela Davis, Kierna Mayo, Raqiyah Mays, Janell Snowden, Beverly Bond, and others, share their insights as thought leaders in their respective fields. Bond claims that the term "Black Girl Magic" was first used by her friend and fellow feminist author, researcher, and former Black Girls Rock! Board Member Joan Morgan (American author), as early as 2000.
