Björk Guðmundsdóttir OTF (November 21, 1965) is a multi-talented Icelandic artist who was born in Reykjavík, Iceland. She may be heard singing, composing, producing records, and acting. Throughout her four-decade career, she has cultivated a diverse musical style that draws on electronic, pop, experimental, trip-hop, classical, and avant-garde music; she is known for her distinctive voice, three-octave vocal range, and occasionally strange public presence.
Björk started singing when she was 11 years old and became famous throughout the world by the time she was 21 years old, all while being born and raised in Reykjavík. She was the main vocalist of the alternative rock band the Sugarcubes. A solo artist after the Sugarcubes broke up in 1992, Björk rose to fame with the releases of Debut (1993), Post (1995), and Homogenic (1997).
"Oral" was the song that Björk dropped on November 21, 2023, featuring Rosalía and produced by Sega Bodega. To rally the people of Seyðisfjörður against the fish farming businesses owned by Norwegians that endanger the local ecosystems, Homogenic and Vespertine collaborated on a revised demo.
Björk and other Icelandic activists established Aegis to combat the devastation of the fjords caused by excessive fish farming, and they used the song's earnings to fund their cause. Björk made her first appearance on a Vogue cover in 2024, donning Maison Margiela for the April/May issue of Vogue Scandinavia, which Viðar Logi shot.
