Billy Raffoul is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician. From a very young age, he knew what to do with his life. His signature sound is defined as a rough-hewn, low-timbered rock and roll, which resembles that of Neil Young, Jeff Buckley, and Joe Cocker. As a young talent, Raffoul and his father Jody played a gig on Pelee Island in the middle of Lake Erie.
Raffoul grew up in a creative family in the small farming town of Leamington, Ontario. His mother is also an artist, writer, and teacher, whereas his father is a solo artist. He was a hometown hero who has opened for everyone from Joe Cocker to Bon Jovi. Billy was highly influenced by soul singers like Otis Redding and Sam Cooke. Billy received a ‘British Invasion’-inspired guitar with a Union Jack on its front from Jody on his 10th birthday. At the age of 16, he bought his first real guitar, a 1968 Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty.
During his time at high school, Billy saw his father headline a show for 4,000 people at his school’s stadium. It was a proud moment for him. Later on, his first paying gig was playing to long-haul drivers staying at a local truck stop. Since then, he has collaborated with other songwriters and splitting time between Nashville and Los Angeles playing shows.
