Babymetal became a worldwide sensation in 2014 when their song “Gimme Chocolate!!” went viral. People were amazed by their unique mix of heavy metal and Japanese pop music. Following the release of their first album in 2014, they began playing large-scale shows across Asia, Europe, and the United States. In 2016, they opened for Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers. That same year, they also performed at Wembley Arena in London, which was a huge moment in their career. Their second album, Metal Resistance, reached the U.S. Billboard 200, which is rare for a Japanese act. Babymetal’s style mixes loud guitar riffs with cute vocals, and they always perform in matching outfits with choreographed moves. Fans love their mix of sweet and hardcore, and their concerts feel like a wild mix of a metal show and a pop performance.
In 2025, Babymetal is on tour with Electric Callboy for their World Kakumei Tour. They are playing shows across North America, including stops in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Toronto. The tour began in April and continues through the summer. The group is also performing songs from their 2023 album, The Other One, along with their biggest hits. Kikuchi remains a member, joined by new addition Momometal (Momoko Okazaki). The group continues to draw huge crowds and continues to grow its fan base around the world.
