Autograph Information
Autograph is an American rock band based in Pasadena, California. The current lineup of the group includes Simon Daniels (lead vocals and rhythm guitars), Randy Rand (bass and backing vocals), Marc Wieland (drums), and Jimi Bell (lead guitar and backing vocals). The band is well-known for its hit single of 1984 entitled “Turn Up the Rodeo.” Autograph began originally in late 1983 as a solo project for singer, guitarist, and songwriter Steve Plunkett. He gathered a few musicians and formed a group that began recording and playing together. They soon took the form of an actual band.
In late 1983, Autograph recorded its first rough demos but only played them for close friends. Nevertheless, the band caught the attention of Andy Johns, a famous record producer who invited the group to re-record and upgrade their demos at the world-famous Record Plant Studios. Autograph released its debut studio album entitled “Sign In Please” in October 1984. A major hit from the album was the song “Turn Up the Radio.”
Autograph recorded their second studio album and released it in the fall of 1985. The album was entitled “That’s the Stuff.” Other notable studio albums released by the group include Loud and Clear (1987), Missing Pieces (1997), Buzz (2003), More Missing Pieces (2003), The Anthology (2011), Louder (2016), and Get Off Your Ass (2017). Their notable singles include “Send Her to Me,” “Blondes in Black Cars,” “That’s the Stuff,” “She Never Looked That Good For Me,” and “I Lost My Mind in America."
