Annie Haslam Information
Annie Haslam (June 8, 1947) is an English painter, vocalist, and songwriter. Haslam studied fashion in Cornwall before moving to London to work for a Savile Row tailor. She listened to the Beatles rooftop concert while she was there. She then started training with opera soprano Sybil Knight in 1970. After responding to an ad in the British magazine Melody Maker and attending an audition for the band in Surrey, Haslam was named the new lead singer of Renaissance in February 1971.
Haslam launched her solo career in 1977 with the release of Annie in Wonderland, an album Roy Wood produced. He played most of the record's instruments, collaborated with Haslam on one track, and sang on the Intergalactic Touring Band CD. Since then, she has put out eight studio albums, three of which were distributed by her own record company, White Dove. Additionally, Haslam and Steve Howe have worked on several projects. Her debut solo DVD was also made available; it was her Live Studio Concert from 2006. With Welsh rock band Magenta, Haslam released an EP titled Night and Day in 2006. It was her first solo recording in a while.
Haslam has been doing a Christmas show called In the Spirit of the Holidays every year since 1999, first at the Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church and subsequently, starting in 2006, at the bigger Sellersville Theatre in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.
