Anne E. DeChant is a rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She is based in the Cleveland area. She was born and grew up in Avon Lake, Ohio. She completed her graduation from Avon Lake High School in 1983. DeChant went to Miami University. She released her first solo album in July 1997. It had a more mainstream sound but departed from her folk roots.
DeChant is widely known for writing her share of heartfelt songs of heartbreak and headache. She is a storyteller drawing her inspiration from the struggles of those she has observed throughout her life. Her tracks’ theme mostly roams around justice issues. Examples of her tracks include “World War III” regarding the destruction of the earth versus man-made progress, “What Do You Care” regarding intolerance and prejudice toward the transgender and gay communities, and 25, which references the economic imbalance.
Anne E. DeChant is the lead vocalist and plays guitar and ukulele on her recordings. She sometimes adds electric and banjo to amuse her audience while performing on stage during her live performances.
