Andy Hull Information
John Andrew Hull (November 7, 1986) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He is Manchester Orchestra's primary songwriter, rhythm guitarist, and lead singer. His other projects include Right Away, Great Captain! and Bad Books, a collaboration with his buddy and fellow folk artist Kevin Devine. Hull is also the label head of Favorite Gentlemen, home to Manchester Orchestra.
Hull spent the first seven years in Richmond Hill, Ontario, before moving back to Atlanta at 14. The guitar was a gift from his parents, and he trained himself to play it. A year later, he teamed up with a friend who played bass guitar to start creating and performing music. After they broke up, he formed a new band with Chris Freeman, keyboardist for Manchester Orchestra.
Hull spent his senior year of high school studying at home because he felt increasingly isolated at Providence Christian Academy, a "small-town-Georgia, Christian high school" in the Atlanta suburbs. In 2004, while still a student, he penned and released his debut studio album. Robert McDowell, guitarist for Hull and the Manchester Orchestra, composed the 2016 film Swiss Army Man score. Hull made a cameo appearance as well.
