Ali Gatie (May 31, 1997) is a popular songwriter, rapper, and singer. He is a Toronto based performer. Ali Gatie was born in Yemen to Iraqi parents. He moved with his family to Abu Dhabi during his childhood. Later, they moved to Mississauga, Ontario. When he was young, he used to listen to Frank Ocean, J. Cole, and Ed Sheeran. He was purely influenced by their music style to some considerable extent.
Gatie started his music career when he was only 18. He began pursuing his passion for music, and in the year 2016, Gatie started recording for the first time. The decision to pursue his music career caused him to drop out of his university.
Gatie won Rhymestars that was an online competition hosted by Joe Budden in 2017. He also released a string of singles in 2018, after which Gatie got signed by Warner Records. His first commercial success was his song “Moonlight.” This song received over 8 million views on YouTube, but the breakthrough of his career was the release of “It’s You.”
This release surpassed over 650 million streams as of December 2019. Gatie released his first album titled “You” on November 8, 2019. The album included seven new songs by him. His chartered singles also include “What If I Told That I Love You.”
