Alan Mcgee Information
Alan McGee (September 29, 1960) is a Scottish businessman and music an industry executive. He was born in East Kilbride. In high school, he met the other future Primal Scream member, Bobby Gillespie, at King's Park Secondary School in Glasgow. McGee dropped out, and since he and Gillespie shared a passion for punk music, they decided to form a band called The Drains in 1978. Andrew Innes played guitar for the group.
After the dissolution of The Drains, McGee and Innes briefly joined H2O before relocating to London, where they teamed up with Croydon drummer Mark Jardim to form the band The Laughing Apple. In 1981 and 1982, they cut three singles, two of which were issued on Autonomy and one on their Essential label. In an interview, McGee stated that "to blend psychedelic with punk music" was his goal with Creation. At the same time, he launched a club night called "The Living Room" at The Adams Arms in Central London (named after a song by The Creation), and he also founded the band Biff Bang Pow! (named after the song by The Creation), which lasted until 1991.
McGee plays a significant role in the film Teenage Superstars, about the indie music scene in Glasgow during the early years of Creation Records. Production on Nick Moran's biopic of McGee and Creation, titled Creation Stories, is scheduled to begin in 2021.
