Aerosmith is an American rock band. The current lineup consists of Brad Whitford, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, and Steven Tyler. The band formed in 1971 and settled on its permanent lineup the following year when they began to play to modest success at local venues. The band was first represented by the Ed Malhoit Agency, then by Frank Connelly for promotion, and finally, in 1972, by David Krebs and Steve Leber for management.
The band announced they would perform a farewell tour from 2023 to 2024 titled "Peace Out: The Farewell Tour." The tour will take the band to 40 cities across North America between now and January 2024, with support from The Black Crowes. Original drummer Joey Kramer will not be joining the band on this tour.
With over 150 million records sold globally and over 85 million in the US alone, Aerosmith is the best-selling American hard rock band ever. In terms of total certifications, they hold the record with 25 gold, 18 platinum, and 12 multi-platinum albums, and they are tied for the record with the most multi-platinum albums by an American group with the Backstreet Boys.
