Titanique Information
Nicholas Connell served as the musical supervisor for Titanique, a jukebox musical written by Constantine Rousouli, Marla Mindelle, and Tye Blue—the musical features Céline Dion's songs, which is a parody of Titanic, a 1997 blockbuster. In 2017, the show made its debut in Los Angeles. Its off-Broadway run first off in June 2022 at The Asylum Theatre and continued through November at the Daryl Roth Theatre. The 2023 Lucille Lortel Awards went to the show for Outstanding Musical, Mindelle for lead performance, and Alejo Vietti for costume design.
The formal opening night of an off-Broadway revival was June 23, 2022, and previews were held at New York City's The Asylum Theatre on June 14, 2022. Again, Blue was in charge of direction, Connell was in charge of music, and Ellenore Scott was in charge of choreography. Ryan Duncan played Ruth, Mindelle played Dion, Rousouli played Jack, Ellis played Rose, Frankie Grande played Victor Garber, Deitch played Margaret "Molly" Brown, John Riddle played Cal, and Jaye Alexander played The Iceberg.
The show's run at the Daryl Roth Theatre ended on November 13, 2022, and it reopened the following day under the direction of the same ensemble. Carrie St. Louis, Desireé Rodriguez, Russel Daniels, and Avionce Hoyles replaced Ellis, Deitch, Duncan, and Alexander, leaving a few company members. Mark Evans replaced Grande as Cal on December 24, 2022, after which Wulf Clark took over the role of Victor Garber, and Grande left the show on December 22, 2022.
