Thoroughly Modern Millie is an American musical-romantic comedy film that came out in 1967. The film was directed by George Roy Hill and starring Julie Andrews. Ross Hunter produced the film, Richard Morris worked as a writer, Russell Metty handled the cinematography, and the music was by Elmer Bernstein. The screenplay follows a naïve young woman who finds herself in a series of madcap adventures after she plans to set her eyes on marrying her wealthy boss. Thoroughly Modern Millie also stars Mary Tyler Moore, James Fox, Carol Channing, John Gavin, and Beatrice Lillie. The film was released on March 21, 1967.
Thoroughly Modern Millie was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and seven Academy Awards. The film ranked ninth among high-grossing films of 1967 and was adapted for a successful stage musical of the same name in 2000. The DVD was also issued in 2003. The cast members include Julie Andrews as Millie Dillmount, Mary Tyler Moore as Miss Dorothy Brown, Beatrice Lillie as Mrs. Meers, Philip Ahn as Tea, Muzzy's head butler, Jack Soo as Oriental No. 1, and a few more.
