The Game Awards Information
The Game Awards are a yearly ceremony that recognizes accomplishments in the video game industry. Game writer Geoff Keighley has been involved with the shows since 2014 when they were first launched. He spent over a decade at their predecessor, the Spike Video Game Awards.
While developing the program, Keighley collaborated with other video game companies with Spike's blessing. The Game Honors also serves as a platform for the debut of new games and updates on those that have been announced. The show's advertising content and treatment of award winners have drawn criticism.
Keighley has hosted the performance at the bigger Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles since 2014. For the duration of the Game Awards, he has built partnerships with the streaming world, an action that has been well-received by a number of those companies.
Due to regulations imposed by California and Los Angeles regarding hosting big meetings in indoor locations, the Game Awards continued in 2020 and 2021, with a smaller invited audience for the latter year and reduced contact among hosts, presenters, and nominees. After these government limitations were eliminated in 2022, the performance returned to its entire live audience.
Inside the Game Awards was a post that Keighley co-hosted with Spotify in 2021. A night of video game music in the Hollywood Bowl, accompanied by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, occurred on June 25, 2023, as Keighley presided over The Game Awards 10-Year Celebration.
