The Debaters Information
Comedian Steve Patterson of Canada hosts a radio program called The Debaters. It is broadcast at 1:30 pm on Saturdays and 11:30 am on Wednesdays, Eastern Time, on CBC Radio One. Originally airing in September 2006, the Richard Side-created program succeeded the similarly-titled Madly Off in All Directions, which had been on the air for a significantly longer period. Side, along with Phillip Ditchburn and Anna Bonokoski, produced it.
Season one was hosted solely by Shaun Majumder, but season two featured a rotating cast of presenters, including Sean Cullen, Elvira Kurt, Patrick McKenna, and Roman Danylo. After a brief hiatus, Steve Patterson returned as the show's main host for Season 3.
Two debates, each involving two competitors, take place in each show. Comedic subjects like "Apples are better than oranges" and "Darth Vader was a bad father" are included. When the debate is over, the crowd votes on who they think should win. Roughly 33 brand-new programs make up a season. These events occur in front of live audiences in studios, theaters, and clubs all over Canada and are taped for future playback.
