Peter and the Starcatcher Information
Peter and the Starcatcher is an American play based on the 2004 novel of the same name by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry. The novel was adapted for the stage by Rick Elice. The play showcases the backstory of Peter Pan, Hook, Tinker Bell, and Mrs. Darling’s characters. It has also served as a prequel to J. M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy. The play was premiered on February 13, 2009, at La Jolla Playhouse in California.
In 2011, Peter and the Starcatcher were shifted to Off-Broadway. The play opened on Broadway in 2012. On January 20, 2013, the show finished its Broadway run and reopened on Off-Broadway in March 2013 at New World Stages. This run continued until January 2014, the instrumental score of the show was written by Wayne Barker. On August 15, 2013, the show launched its first national tour in Denver. The tour was concluded on May 25, 2014, in Pittsburgh.
The cast of the original World Premier for the Peter and the Starcatcher included Christian Borle (as Black Stache), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Molly), Adam Green (Boy named Peter), Teddy Bergman (Grempkin Mack Sanchez, Fighting Prawn), Maggie Carney (Mrs. Bumbrake, Teacher), and Andrew McGinn / Jared Dagar (Slank, Hawking Clam).
