Artrageous Information
Artrageous is a popular American touring performance art company founded in 2014. It was created from a theater arts community that was first established in Granville Island, British Columbia, Canada. The purpose of this company is to deliver dance, puppetry, storytelling, music, painting, and performance art. Dan Moyer and Deborah Noble are the two artistic directors of the company that began doing street theater in the ‘80s before growing into an internationally famous touring band named The Pink Flamingos, also known as performance painters in 1998 with the act The 3 Painters. The troupe combined their diverse artistic backgrounds into one show in 2014 and named it Artrageous.
Artrageous enjoys a history of over 3000 shows performed as an artistic community. The company conducts an average of over 100 theater performances per year as Artrageous. The group has also appeared on TV programs and has had multiple national and international tours as well as featured as primary performers and educators for several educational institutions throughout North America and abroad.
Artrageous is famous for blending multiple art forms into a single, interactive live concert that is ideal for all ages. Some of the prominent concert elements are highlighted by speed-painted re-creations of iconic works of art, American patriotic-themed folk art, and colorful portraits of iconic pop culture figures. The troupe has also been involved in many commissioned projects, including the full Bunraku Puppetry shows ‘Isis and Osiris’ and ‘Perseus and Medusa’ and the building of a 35’ foot tall Abraham Lincoln similar to that of the Lincoln Memorial.
Additionally, Artrageous has headlined at the 44th annual Festival Internacional Cervantino (2016) as well as appeared at NBA All-Stars (2019).
