A Strange Loop is a musical that was awarded the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Michael R. Jackson wrote the book, music, and lyrics. A Strange Loop had its off-Broadway debut in 2019, a 2021 staging in Washington, DC, and its 2022 Broadway debut in April at the Lyceum Theatre. At the 75th Tony Awards, the musical took home two prizes: Best Musical and Best Book of Musical.
Opening night was June 17, 2023, and the show ran until September 9, 2023, at the Barbican Centre in London. The National Theatre, Wessex Grove, Barbara Whitman, and Trafalgar Theatre Productions were all involved in its production by Howard Panter. The original Broadway creative team, including Brackett, Kelly, Rosen, Siddiqui, and everyone else, was back for the London production.
The all-British cast of Thoughts included Kyle Ramar Freeman, who had previously understudied Usher on Broadway. Due to prior obligations, Freeman played his last show on August 12. Starting on August 14, Kyle Birch played the part of Usher until the show's last performance. On September 27, 2019, Yellow Sound Label published the original recording of the off-Broadway cast.
