Y & T - Yesterday & Today Information
Y&T is a hard rock/heavy metal band, originally known as Yesterday & Today. The current lineup of the group consists of Aaron Leigh (bass and backing vocals), Mike Vanderhule (drums and backing vocals), John Nymann (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), and Dave Meniketti (lead vocals and lead guitar). In 1976, Y&T released its self-titled debut album through London Records. In 1978, the band came up with its second studio album, Struck Down. They continued touring extensively and built up headliners. Y&T opened for bands such as Kiss, AC/DC, and Wild Cherry at the time.
Y&T signed a record deal with A&M Records and released two more studio albums, including Earthshaker (1981) and Black Tiger (1982). In 1983, the band started playing at larger amphitheaters, stadiums, and arenas across the United States and Europe. They did various acts such as ZZ Top, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Marillion, Iron Maiden, Blackfoot, Dio, Alice Cooper, and AC/DC.
Y&T has released several other albums, including In Rock We Trust (1984), Down for the Count (1985), Contagious (1987), Ten (1990), Musically Incorrect (1995), Endangered Species (1997), and Facemelter (2010). The band released its only extended play in 2018, Acoustic Classix Vol. 1. The band’s notable singles include “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” (1990), “Contagious” (1987), “Summertime Girls” (1985), “Don’t Stop Running,” and “Mean Streak” (1983).
