Waxing Poetics Information
Waxing Poetics is an American band known as the kings of the Hampton Roads music scene. The group was discontinued 30 years ago, but recently the members have reunited and began playing music again. The current lineup of the band includes David Middleton (lead singer and songwriter), Paul Tiers (guitarist), Jeff Bailey (bassist), and Bill Shearin (drummer). Middleton and Tiers are the founding members of Waxing Poetics. They created the band in 1983 in Norfolk. The group signed its first record deal with independent label Emergo Records in New York.
Waxing Poetics released its debut album in 1987 entitled “Hermitage.” Some of the other notable studio albums by the group include “Manakin Moon” (1988) and “Bed Time Story” (1990). When the band returned to the stage with a new single, “Workers’ Playtime," it was released in anticipation of a reunion show. Other notable singles by the band include “If You Knew Sushi,” “Blue-Eyed Soul,” “Baby Jane,” and “Where Your Name Is.”
