Wavves is an American rock band that is based in San Diego, California. The group was formed in 2008 by songwriter and singer Nathan Williams (June 12, 1986). The band plays pop-punk, surf rock, noise pop, and indie rock. Wavves include following artists as the current band members; Stephen Pope (bass guitar, backing vocals), Alex Gates (guitar, backing vocals), and formerly Brian Hill (drums and backing vocals).
Wavves released their first self-named album in 2008. The second full-length album by the band was released on February 3, 2009, named Wavves. This release was received by outlets including The A.V. Club, Spin, and Pitchfork. Some of the other full-length albums by the Wavves are King of the Beach (2010), Afraid of Heights (2013), V (2015), and You're Welcome (2017).
Since the release of their third album named King of the Beach, the band’s signature music is characterized as indie rock, pop-punk, alternative rock, and surf rock. Wavves is also aligned to perform opening acts parallel to The Naked and Famous (Blink-182's 2017 spring tour). The band also toured with Dune Rats (Australia), which was continued by the promotion of their new album (October).
Wavves is expected to celebrate its 10th anniversary of King of The Beach by touring in North America and Australia in 2020 spring.
