Sublime Information
Sublime is a group from Long Beach, California, that first came together in 1988. The band's initial lineup was Bud Gaugh on drums, Eric Wilson on bass, and Bradley Nowell on vocals and guitar. The band's mascot was Nowell's Dalmatian, Lou Dog. After Nowell's 1996 heroin overdose death, the band broke up. Radio stations in the United States began playing songs, including "What I Got," "Santeria," "Wrong Way," "Doin' Time," and "April 29, 1992 (Miami)" in 1997.
The discography of Sublime includes three studio albums, a live album, five compilation albums (including one that has exclusive content), three extended plays, and a box set. The band achieved significant commercial success not until Sublime's self-titled third album reached No. 13 on the Billboard 200 in 1996—two months after Nowell's death. Despite the moderate success of their first two albums, 40oz, to Freedom (1992) and Robbin' the Hood (1994).
Sublime officially licensed the band's new REEFERS brand of cannabis goods on April 21, 2023, the day after 4/20. Surfdog Records published $5 at the Door: Live at Tressel Tavern, 1994, the same day. The record, originally released under Memories, was a bootlegged version of a performance from 1994 in Everett, Washington's Tressel Tavern.
With the announcement of Jakob Nowell's permanent membership on January 16, 2024, Sublime was included in the schedule for the 2024 Coachella Festival. An extra 2024 engagement for the band was the confirmation of "additional music festivals" in a press release.
