Kelsey Regina Byrne (May 6. 1990) is an American singer and songwriter, professionally known by her stage name, Verite. She was born in Orange County, New York. In July 2014, she self-released her first single, "Strange Enough," which went to number one on Hype Machine and became the #1 Most Viral Twitter Artist the same week.

Verite began working with producer Elliot Jacobson in late 2012 or early 2013 after Jacobson reached out to her on Twitter. Vérité, which translates to "truth" in French, began creating and recording songs under the moniker Vérité.

In July of 2014, Verite began promoting her first single, "Strange Enough." It also went to number one on Hype Machine, despite Vérité's decision to keep her real name disguised at the time. The song garnered positive reviews from critics, with Complex describing it as a "scorching breakup anthem."
On August 26, 2014, her second single, "Weekend," received a "Pick of the Day" on the CDS Music Chart. According to the author, she explained that "Weekend" was "written to be a snapshot of a moment." It's torn between nostalgia for all that was thrilling and the reality of how fleeting that elation can be."

Vérité's debut live performance was at the Neon Gold Popshop in New York. She performed at several Neon Gold Records-sponsored events, including a showcase at South by Southwest in March 2014. The song "Echo," the title track from her then-upcoming first EP, was released exclusively on Billboard's website in September 2014.
