Vagabon Information
Laetitia Tamko (October 25, 1994) is a Cameroonian-American autodidact singer, songwriter, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist. She is better known by her stage name, Vagabon. Tamko was born in Yaounde, Cameroon, and relocated to New York at 13 with her family. She could not speak English at first but learned it so quickly she soon was able to attend Westchester High School. Vagabon attended City College of New York, where she graduated from Grove School of Engineering.
Vagabon got her first guitar at the age of 17, brought by her parents from Costco. She taught herself how to play the instrument, with the help of instructional DVDs. Vagabon began uploading her music to Bandcamp under her current pseudonym, Vagabon. Her music is defined as indie rock and electro-pop.
She was invited to be the opening act for Courtney Barnett in 2018 during her North America tour. Her debut studio album was entitled "Infinite Worlds" that was released in February 2017, and her second studio album was a self-titled album released in 2019. It was is self-produced and explores new sounds. "Every Woman" is one of the songs by Vagabon that is is a young feminist's manifesto.
She has worked under different record labels so far, including Miscreant Records, Father/Daughter Records, Marathon Artists, and Nonesuch Records. Vagabon has also released two extended plays to date, one is entitled Persian Garden (2014), and the other is Vagabon on Audiotree Live (2017).
