TK and The Holy Know Nothings Information
Kingman's most well-known endeavor is TK & The Holy Know-Nothings. Kingman's ambition to establish a fluid, groove-heavy bar band that never sacrifices the significance of solid, honest songwriting led to the group's self-dubbed "psychedelic doom boogie." They enlisted the help of a local supergroup comprised of friends, including drummer Tyler Thompson and multi-instrumentalists Jay Cobb Anderson, Lewi Longmire, and Sydney Nash.
It's a band with wildly divergent approaches united by a genuine and palpable sense of mutual trust, allowing them to find and lose the rhythm with equal ease. They construct elegant, spaced-out landscapes around Kingman's storytelling–his voice ragged and broken one moment, yelling the next–only to deconstruct them in frenzied, frequently dissonant rabbit holes. And Kingman's equally irreverent, elegant, and sophisticated first-person narratives blend nicely with everything.
The band's upcoming album, The Incredible Heat Machine, is a work in progress. It doesn't deviate much from Arguably OK (and Pickled Heat, the B-sides EP from 2020). It's just a story about a working band getting off the road and returning to work, keen on documenting the development and wear they've accumulated in the interim. Both CDs were recorded in Enterprise, Oregon, a sleepy cowboy town at the foot of the snow-capped Wallowa Mountains, just a few mid-winter days (two years apart).
