Three on a String Information
Three on a String is a trio that celebrated 45 years in the entertainment business in 2016. The lineup consists of Jerry Ryan, Bobby Horton, and Brad Ryan, who are often joined on stage by Andy Meginniss, a former trio member. Ryan and Horton used to perform as a duet at Horse Pens 40 in 1971. The two of them were suggested to add a bass by George Pruitt, a big band veteran. As a result of bass addition, Three on a String was born.
The trio underwent some personal changes that eventually evolved into stage sharing with many well-known symphony orchestras from several states. One of the notable tours performed by Three on a String is a nine-city tour with the Alabama Symphony. The group also opened for famous artists such as Barbara Mandrel, George Lindsey, Ray Stevens, Jeff Foxworthy, and Red Skelton.
Three on a String was added in concerts for Chambers of Commerce, Landmark Theatres, concerts for art councils, and city celebrations; hence, these veteran entertainers had a busy schedule from the beginning. They used to have various jobs but left everything to pursue their dreams. Jerry Ryan was a teacher, high school principal, and coach but left everything to work as a vocalist, guitar player, and harmonica player. Bobby Horton took trumpet lessons as a child. Eventually, he became proficient at 20+ instruments, including the banjo, violin/fiddle, dobro, mandolin, guitar, and Irish pipes.
