Bernd Weidung (March 1, 1963) is a German record producer, singer, and songwriter. He is professionally known by his stage name, Thomas Anders. He was born in Koblenz, West Germany. Anders began his singing career while still in school, trying unsuccessfully for many years to become a successful Schlager performer. Modern Talking's "You're My Heart, You're My Soul" shot them to fame in 1983 after they formed the Eurodisco duo with Dieter Bohlen.
To this, they added the singles "You Can Win If You Want," "Cheri, Cheri Lady," "Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)," "Brother Louie," "Geronimo's Cadillac," and "Jet Airliner" before breaking up in 1987. Before disbanding once more in 2003, the group regrouped in 1998 and released new material, including "You Are Not Alone," "Sexy, Sexy Lover," "Ready for the Victory," "No Face, No Name, No Number," and "TV Makes the Superstar."
Their high-profile breakups received extensive coverage in the German tabloid media and sparked numerous lawsuits. The group's two tours resulted in 120 million album sales and several sales certifications worldwide. Anders pursued a solo career in the early 1990s and again after the band's second split in 2003. While none of his six studio albums made it onto the charts, hits like "Love of My Own" did quite well during the first Modern Talking split.
