Thomas Abban began playing the guitar at the age of eight, but when his family relocated from Wales to Minneapolis, Minnesota, he began to take it seriously. He was a Blues fan from a young age, and Blind Willie Johnson was a major influence. Later in life, he enjoyed the music of James Brown, Bob Dylan, and Bob Marley, among other giants.
At the tender age of 17, Abban was already playing three-hour sets at local coffee bars, honing his eclectic approach by employing the acoustic guitar as a stringed instrument and percussion instrument. Abban, who was only 21 then, made his full-length debut with the digital release of A Sheik's Legacy on Deck Night in the middle of 2017. Abban played guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums on his self-produced album. RCA noticed; therefore, in September 2018, they republished A Sheik's Legacy on various platforms.
