The Zeros Information
The Zeros are an American rock band that was formed in 1976 in Chula Vista, California. Initially, the group was composed of Javier Escovedo (vocals and guitar), Robert Lopez (guitar), Hector Penalosa (bass), and Baba Chenelle (drums). The band is considered a pioneer of punk rock on the West Coast.
The Zeros performed their first major gig at the Orpheum in Los Angeles. The band released its first single entitled “Wimp” between “Don’t Push Me Around.” It was released on Bomp! Records in 1977. The band recorded another single in 1980 and the following songs: “Getting Nowhere Fast,” “Girl on the Block,” and “They Say That (Everything’s Alright).”
The Zeros are notorious for playing a complete set that consisted of eight replays of “Beat Your Heart Out” in San Francisco. The band released another album entitled “Knockin’ Me Dead” in 1995. In early 2007, the Zeros reunited for a tour in Spain. Later, all four original group members reunited for a short West Coast tour in June 2009.
The Zeros have released a few other notable albums throughout its career, including Over the Sun (1995) and Right Now! (1999).
