The Velveteers Information
The Velveteers is an American primal rock trio based in the mountains of Boulder, Colorado. The group’s current lineup consists of Jonny Fig, Baby Pottersmith (drummers), and Demi Demitro (singer and guitarist). The band released its debut album, Nightmare Daydream, on October 8 through Easy Eye Sound. It was produced by Dan Auerbach, a Grammy Award-winning artist. The first single of the album, “Charmer And The Snake,” was released with an accompanying video.
Demitro rebelled through her guitar while growing up in Boulder. She used to practice nine hours a day. She even neglected her schoolwork to develop her style of playing guitar that was heavy but agile, grounded in rock history but wholly idiosyncratic, and theatrical but nuanced. The band built its reputation initially with rip-roaring performances. The band’s live shows and the DIY video sent it back to Auerbach, who invited The Velveteers to his studio in Nashville, where they produced Nightmare Daydream.
The Velveeters also found out that Nightmare Daydream stripped-down rock and roll to its most primal elements, such as the snarl, the rhythm, and the riff. Also, it was rebuilt in their image. Demitro also said that the band doesn’t want to sound like a band from a different time. Instead, they want to sound like a band that makes its audience feel the present.
