The Trews Information
The Trews is a Canadian rock band. The current lineup consists of Chris Gormley (drums), Jack Syperek (backing vocals and bass guitar), John-Angus MacDonald (backing vocals and lead guitar), and Colin MacDonald (lead vocals and rhythm guitar). The band's original moniker, One I'd Trouser, was inspired by a lyric in a song from Monty Python and the Meaning of Life. They were originally known as the Trousers but later became known as The Trews. They put out a mini-album as One I'd Trouser and another as The Trews.
The band participated in St. Catharines (Southern Ontario) rock radio station CHTZ-annual FM's high-profile contest Rocksearch in the early summer of 2002. The contest win got them signed to a recording contract with Bumstead Productions.
In 2003, they dropped their debut album, a CD titled House of Ill Fame. Singles from the album included "Every Inambition," "Not Ready to Go," "Tired of Waiting," "Fleeting Trust," and "Confessions," all produced by Big Sugar's Gordie Johnson. Canadian rock radio played "Not Ready to Go" more than any other song in 2004. At the 2004 Juno Awards, the band was up for New Group of the Year; in 2005, their single "Not Ready to Go" was up for Single of the Year.
