The Secret Sisters Information
The Secret Sisters is an Americana singing and songwriting duo that consists of Laura Rogers and Lydia Slagle (nee Rogers). Their music has been compared to some big-name artists such as The Everly Brothers. Lydia and Laura Rogers are sisters from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. They had an intense love for music since childhood which was coming from both sides of their family. The two sisters first learned to harmonize at their hometown church by singing a cappella. They never considered a singing career as a duo. Lydia remained the real singer of the family, while Laura went to Middle Tennessee State University to pursue her career in business.
In 2010, The Secret Sisters released their self-titled debut album, consisting of cover songs such as “I’ve Got a Feeling,” “Why Don’t Ya Love Me?”, “Why Baby Why,” “ and “Somethin’ Stupid.” There were two originals included in the album as well that Laura Rogers wrote. The originals are entitled “Waste the Day” and “Tennessee Me.” The album took around two weeks to get recorded at Blackbird Studios. It was produced by Dave Cobb, who had worked with such big names as Jamey Johnson and Waylon Jennings.
The Secret Sisters released their second studio album entitled “Put Your Needle Down” on April 15, 2014. Some of the other notable studio albums released by the duo include You Don’t Own Me Anymore (June 9, 2017) and Saturn Return (February 28, 2020). The duo has also made several television appearances such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Hootenanny, BBC Television, and Late Show with David Letterman.
