The Prids Information
The Prids is a post-punk/indie rock band that is based in Portland, Oregon. The band is led by former couple Mistina La Fave and David Frederickson. The band has been working actively since 1995. The current lineup of the group consists of David Frederickson (vocals and guitar), Mistina La Fave (bass), Gordon Nickel (drums), and Cass Yates (keyboards and bass). The Prids have been associated with a few record labels, including Death Tech Music, Luminal Records. Five03 Records, This A-Way, and Velvet Blue Music.
The Prids are known because of following a strong DIY ethic. The Prids was initially founded in a small town of St. Joseph, Missouri. The name of the band was a reference to the pet name that Frederickson brought for his wife, La Fave. They worked day and night and developed themselves in Nebraska, Omaha, and Lincoln. The band released its debut EP entitled “Deuracraft” in 2000 on their first label, Death Tech Music.
In 2002, The Prids self-released their second extended play entitled “Glide, Screamer.” On May 6, 2003, the band released its debut full-length album named “Love Zero.” Luminal Records released the album. They kept releasing their projects one after another. Their notable studio albums include Until the World Is Beautiful (2006), Chronosynclastic (2010), and Do I Look Like I’m In Love? (2018).
They also released an extended play entitled Something Difficult in 2007. Their all-time hit singles are Let It Go (2004), Shadow and Shadow (2004), Something Difficult (2008), and Break Split (2009). Their only tribute album is Dots to Connect: The Music of the Prids (2009).
